  1. The Olde Towne Flea Market has its strong and weak points. The garage provides shade in the summer and protection during inclement weather. However, it's very small with a limited number of vendors.

This is sad as I was told approximately 20 more vendors would like to participate but are turned away each month due to a lack of space downstairs. Those running it do not want to bother dealing with opening the 2nd floor as there is not enough to fill it... so much for building business in Olde Towne. It’s no wonder the brick and mortar businesses are suffering with this philosophy and work ethic.

Business attracts business and I suggest that if they built it (provided more space upstairs at the flea market,) they would come in terms of increased foot traffic. More buyers would attract more vendors. Increased numbers attending the flea market would lead to more foot traffic for brick and mortar Olde Towne businesses.

I will continue to come to Portsmouth on Saturday mornings as the Farmer's Market and get-togethers with friends at a local coffee shop makes it worthwhile. But, I will forgo the flea market for the thrift stores on George Washington and another on Fredrick Blvd. Both have more inventory and great deals.
